This morning congressman Bill Johnson toured the Wellsville Inter Modal facility. This is where Hilcorp has leased 22 acres from the Columbiana County Port Authority under it's subsidiary Arrowhead Utica pipeline. The company plans to build a multi-million dollar gas transfer plant.

Activity is steadily increasing at the Wellsville Intermodal facility. Flat bed trucks arrived to collect 30 ton coils of steal unloaded from river barge to be hauled to fabricators in Mahoning and Trumbel counties.  Watch the Business Journals interview with Larry Heck the owner and president of Pier 48, the operators of the Intermodal facility and Randy Allmon of the Wellsville Chamber of Commerce.

Wellsville Terminal Project Now Complete

EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio -- After more than 10 years of development and $5.7 million invested, the Wellsville Intermodal Facility is complete. In a statement issued Wednesday, the Columbiana County Port Authority said the project "will expand the capability of the facility at Ohio's largest river port and provide the state with additional international cargo access to Gulf of Mexico ports," including New Orleans and Mobile, Ala.

Marathon Oil Invests $2.4M at Intermodal Site

EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio – Between 200 and 400 trucks a day will deliver the liquids of “wet” natural gas from the Utica shale to the four holding tanks The Marathon Petroleum Co. owns in the Wellsville Intermodal Facility. From there the liquids will be loaded onto barges on the Ohio River and shipped to refineries. First, however, Marathon must build a pipe linking the holding tanks, each with a capacity of 2.5 million gallons, to the docks where the barges will be loaded...

Port contributes to shale gas boom

EAST LIVERPOOL - The Columbiana County Port Authority acted Monday to help Marathon Petroleum expand its Wellsville operations and bring a similar company to the village that also intends to take advantage of the shale gas boom under way in the region.

Cimbar's $6.5M Expansion Adds Jobs in Wellsville

WELLSVILLE, Ohio -- With completion of the $6.5 million expansion of a production line at its minerals processing plant here, Cimbar Performance Minerals is looking to nearly double its workforce.
The line will produce a range of "customized mineral products" designed specifically for the oil and gas industry, said the company's president, Albert Wilson. The new products will help the company grow more in the specialty talc, calcium carbonate, magnesium hydroxide and other mineral-based product lines.
