Transportation Assets

 

Located at the northernmost point of the Ohio River in the U.S., Columbiana County borders both PA and WV. Columbiana County is served by two class one rail lines(NS and CSX) and the regional railroad (Youngstown and Southern). Four-lane State Route 7 and 11 provide interstate access forty miles to the north (I-76/80) and forty miles to the south (I-70), with US 30 providing a direct east-west route to Pittsburgh and Canton. There are 15 cargo terminals on the Ohio River, including the Port Authority’s state of the art Intermodal Facility (rail, truck and barge) in Wellsville.

Mid-Ohio River Statistical Port District

In June of 2021, the USACE approved the formation of the Mid-Ohio Valley Statistical Port District creating the number one inland port in the United States by freight volume tonnage.  Located directly between the Ports of Pittsburgh and Huntington, WV, this new statistical port encompasses nearly 220 miles of the Ohio River.
